Needle Incinerator System

Needle Disopsal UnitHong Kong based Telecom Technology Limited, has launched in Pune a state of the art portable Needle Incinerator System, Nic1800. This incinerator completely eliminates the perils associated with used needle stick injury, at the point of use itself.

Mr. Jay Raman, the MD of Telecom Technology Limited, stated at the launch that Needle stick injuries pose a personal risk to Medical and Para medical staff by making them more vulnerable to as many as 23 major infections including HIV. He also said that in a country like India, infected needles often end up being reused by unscrupulous elements, thus becoming a serious health hazard. Nic1800 would, according to Mr Raman, enable hospitals clinics and dispensaries to safely and efficiently dispose of this extremely hazardous form of medical waste.

The uniqueness of Nic1800 lies in its patented 'sealed disposable cartridge mechanism.' The entire process of electrically operated incineration takes place inside the sealed cartridge, where the full cartridge is melted at a temperature of 1700 degrees centigrade. Each cartridge can hold the needle debris of 500 needles after which it is replaced.

Mr Raman pointed out that 20% of all AIDS cases worldwide are caused by the re-use of infected needles and India with more then three million HIV infected people had the highest number of HIV cases.

Mr. Raman, when asked if Telecom Technology Limited had any plans of manufacturing the product in India said, "For the first year we would be importing it and then if the volumes increase we would start manufacturing here. The company is looking at several people who could be manufacturing the product in several parts of India. For the Pune launch I am making my third visit to the city in two weeks. We are serious about the country and are here to stay," he added.

Nic1800 costs Rs 9, 500/- plus taxes and one would get a cartridge free. Every additional cartridge would cost Rs 500/- extra.

To avail of the product in Pune and Western Maharashtra, Distributors of Nic 1800 could be contacted at the following address
