you heard of a Market Research company that also

Business Development Bureau does. It was
founded by R V Krishnan, a Chemical Engineer in
1984. Mr. Krishnan spent the initial years of his
career marketing chemical equipment in India and
Says Krishnan, on his decision to return to India
and start his own company, " I was looking
after the European and Middle East Markets based
out of London. In 1989, I returned to India with
the intention of setting up my own business research
company, because I firmly believed that business
research was not being handled well." Once
the decision was made, Krishnan returned to Pune,
bought a large Bungalow on Nagar Road, close to

The last 12 years or so of operations has witnessed
tremendous growth in the company. From a small three-man
team, the company has grown to 50 full time associates
and several part time executives who work as and
when required. Today, it has its head office at
Pune, regional office in Mumbai and associates in
the UK and Singapore
Underlying the reasons for the success of the company,
Krishnan averred that it was sincerity and intelligent
hard work that had set them apart from run of the
mill researchers. This in turn has won them the
respect of clients who have rewarded them with challenging
and innovative assignments.
The company has four basic areas of research:
Customer Market Research - Here companies
are helped to identify new areas of opportunity.
Foreign collaborators for industrial products are
identified and\or techno-economic feasibility studies
are carried out for clients.
Consumer Durable Market research - Companies
that wish to launch a new product can approach the
bureau for a feasibility study. The organisation
helps it find the target audience, the price it
should sell it and the areas where the product would
be more saleable than others.
Customer Delight Cell has been
the experimental division of the company, which
aims at providing upgraded reports as frequently
as the customer desires, at a fraction of the original
cost. It also offers to renew or upgrade any research
that a client may have carried out in the past ten
Social Research Division- A unique wing that
was set up this February. One project that the company
is working on is "The perception of the
people of Pune about the Pune Municipal Corporation."
The company has assigned thirty people on
the job and Krishnan promises that once the study
is completed, the people of Pune will have something
to talk about.
